These Terms govern your use of the Surgical Steps website (surgicalsteps.co.uk) and the educational services we provide. By using the site, creating an account, or booking a service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Surgical Steps is operated by Surgical Steps Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17229091). Our registered office address is available on request — please email hello@surgicalsteps.co.uk. You can contact us at hello@surgicalsteps.co.uk.
To access paid features (including the full question bank and mock-interview bookings) you must create an account using a valid email address. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for any activity that takes place under your account.
You confirm that you are at least 18 years old and a medical professional, trainee, or student with a legitimate educational interest in UK surgical examinations or selection, including the MRCS or FRCS examinations or General Surgery ST3 or Core Surgical Training (CST) content.
One account is for one person. Sharing your login, screen-sharing the question bank to others, or otherwise distributing paid content is a material breach of these Terms.
Surgical Steps provides educational preparation for the UK General Surgery ST3 and Core Surgical Training (CST) national selection interviews, and for the MRCS and FRCS membership and fellowship examinations. Our services include:
All content is for educational purposes only. We are not affiliated with Health Education England, NHS England, the Joint Committee on Surgical Training, ASiT, or any official recruitment body.
Prices are listed on the relevant product page in pounds sterling and are inclusive of any applicable VAT. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your full card details.
The question bank is sold as a one-time purchase for either 6 or 12 months of access. It does not auto-renew — your access simply ends when the period expires unless you buy another period.
Mock interviews and coaching sessions are scheduled by mutual agreement after booking. Sessions are held over video conferencing.
Under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you normally have a 14-day right to cancel a distance contract. By starting to use digital content (for example, opening a question bank entry) before the 14-day period ends, you expressly waive your right to withdraw for that digital content, and we will tell you this at the point of purchase.
For full details of refund eligibility for each product, see our Refund Policy.
You agree not to:
We monitor for unusual account activity (for example, simultaneous logins from very different locations) and reserve the right to suspend access if we suspect a breach.
All content on the site — including question stems, model answers, frameworks, written feedback, course slides, recordings, and the site itself — is the intellectual property of Surgical Steps Ltd or its licensors and is protected by UK and international copyright law.
When you buy a subscription or course you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use that content for your own preparation. No other rights are granted.
We give honest, evidence-based interview preparation but cannot and do not guarantee any particular interview score, ranking, or training-post offer. Your performance depends on many factors outside our control.
Clinical scenarios on the site are written for interview preparation. They are not medical advice and must not be used to make decisions about real patients. Always follow your local trust guidelines, seniors, and the current evidence base when treating patients.
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be limited under English law.
Subject to the above, our total aggregate liability to you in connection with the service is limited to the greater of (a) £100 or (b) the total amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of an interview opportunity, training post, or earnings.
We may suspend or terminate your account without refund if you materially breach these Terms, in particular sections 2 (account sharing) or 6 (acceptable use). For minor or first-time issues we will normally contact you first.
You can close your account at any time from your account page or by emailing us.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material we will give you reasonable advance notice by email and/or a banner on the site. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers may bring proceedings in the courts of their home country if that right is available to them.
